Iraqi army and police forces, backed by the Iraqi jets and US-led coalition aircraft, killed 96 Daesh militants in Fallujah city in eastern Anbar governorate, Baghdad Operations Command said in a statement on Thursday.
This comes as part of the military operation announced by Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi on May 23 to liberate all parts of Fallujah from Daesh militants.
Also, the Iraqi army and police troops have expelled Daesh terrorists from Golan district in Fallujah, cleared a number of booby-trapped houses and defused explosive charges, the statement added.
Military reinforcements were sent to the liberated city to maintain the Iraqi troops' advancement, the statement read.
Fallujah, in the western of Anbar province, has been under Daesh control since late 2013.
