The Head of the Iraqi Bar Association, Mohamed al Faisal, survived an armed attack in central Baghdad.
A group of gunmen opened fire at al Faisal's car late Friday while en route to al Muthana Airport in central Baghdad, the Bar Association said in a press release on Saturday, noting that al Faisal's brother – who was accompanying al Faisal – was injured.
Investigations are underway to uncover the assailants, according to the press release.
Meanwhile, three civilians were killed and 14 others injured in three separate attacks in Baghdad on Saturday.
An explosive charge went off near a popular market in Latifiya area in southern Baghdad, leaving behind one civilian dead and six others injured, security sources said.
Another small bomb was detonated in southwestern Baghdad, injuring three Iraqis, the source said.
Three mortar shells hit inhabited areas in southern Baghdad, leaving behind a woman and a child dead and five civilians wounded.
