Daesh militants on Sunday launched an attack on Retba neighbourhood in Anbar province in southwestern Iraq.
It is the second attack by the terrorist group since the onset of Mosul liberation operation.
Scores of Daesh militants sneaked into Kirkuk in northern Iraq on Friday in a bid to control security positions and try to take civilians as hostages after they have put under strong pressures in Nineveh governorate.
General Commander of the Iraqi Armed Forces in Retba Emad el Delimi urged Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi to send military reinforcements and war jets to counter Daesh attack on Retba.
Retba police and border guards along with tribal forces joined hands to fight Daesh militants.
Joint Iraqi Command announced the liberation of Retba neighbourhood in May after inflicting heavy losses on Daesh group.
Several areas in Anbar are still under the control of Daesh and therefore the militants use them to launch attacks on other neighbourhoods.
