President of Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani discussed with chief of US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) Gen. Joseph Votel ongoing preparations for liberating the northern city of Mosul of the terrorist Daesh organization.
The two sides also discussed the latest political developments in Iraq, said a statement by the presidency of the region on Friday.
During their meeting, the US official posted Barzani on plans to recapture Mosul city in Ninawi governorate from Daesh militants, the statement said.
For his part, Barzani stressed the necessity of reaching a political agreement on the city's management after liberating it from Daesh, it added.
