Iraqi cleric Muqtada al-Sader has agreed to preside over Iraq's national meeting, given it is approved and agreed upon by the rest of the political parties. Al-Sader's office quoted his response to a question by the people of Adhamiya to convene and head the national meeting and hold it in Najaf. He said that if the parties agreed to hold it, he would be waiting for them and at their service. The cleric has asserted that those who criticize him for standing by Kurds and Sunnis are only looking to maintain their positions of power adding that everyone must cooperate for the benefit of Iraq.
