Unidentified gunmen have attacked a cafe in Saladin Governorate, northern Iraq, leaving 12 persons dead.
Three unidentified gunmen opened fire at the cafe guests, killing 12 persons and injuring 25 others, said a well-placed security source and eyewitnesses on Friday.
Iraq has witnessed a state of insecurity, since Daesh terror group seized large parts of northern and western Iraq, and proclaimed the creation of a caliphate stretching across the border with Syria.
The group has continued to launch counter-offensives and attacks in Iraq despite US-led coalition air strikes and ground operations.
On Wednesday, at least 93 people have been killed in three car bomb attacks in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
