The Saudi-based Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed a UN peace deal signed by some Libyan factions in Morocco.
"The deal is a major step for bringing about a comprehensive and lasting peace in Libya," Iyad Madani, the secretary general of the pan-Islamic body, said in a statement.
The deal was signed by the elected parliament along with some members of political parties and civil society and local officials.
The deal stipulates a transitional period for the establishment of a democratic state in the country.
The UN Security Council has urged Libyan factions to sign on to Leon's proposals in a bid to stem rising violence and the spread of radical organisations such as the Islamic State group.
