Firing by Indian security forces along the working border on Saturday killed at least two Pakistanis including a woman, and injured four others in eastern Sialkot city of Pakistan, said officials.
According to Rangers officials, in Charwa and Chaparral sectors of Sialkot, heavy weapons and mortar shells were fired in the morning that were retaliated by Chenab Rangers and the exchange of fire continues for hours. The officials accused that unprovoked firing by Indian troops on working boundary near Sialkot has been continuing for the past many weeks.
A military official told media, "Today again, Indian Border Security Force (BSF) resorted to unprovoked firing in Chaparral and Harpal sectors on the working boundary near Sialkot which resulted in the death of two civilians, a woman and a 60-year-old-man." Several houses were also reported damaged and a number of livestock were killed.
In December last year, Pakistan and India had pledged to uphold the 2003 Line of Control (LoC) ceasefire and the directors general of military operations (DGMOs) of the two countries had agreed to a number of steps to keep the ceasefire accord intact but violations continue
