An attack on a senior police official of Frontier Reserve Police (FRP) in Peshawar city, northern Pakistan, killed at least two people and wounded the senior official on Thursday. According to the police, four unknown gunmen on motorbikes attacked the Deputy Commandant FRP, Gul Wali in the Gulbahar area of Peshawar, wounding him and killing his bodyguard and driver. The senior official was leaving home, heading to his office when four militants who were waiting on both sides of the road attacked him, said police officials. The militants opened fire on the vehicle of Deputy Commandant killing the bodyguard and driver of the official on the spot, confirmed the police official, Shahid Khan. Mr. Wali was shifted to the nearby Lady Reading Hospital where doctors have declared him out of danger. The security forces have cordoned off the area and carried a probe into the incident, and the militants managed to escape the scene of the incident unhurt. No militant group has yet claimed the responsibility of the attack, said local media reports.
