Comedienne Kathy Griffin has quit the red-carpet analysis program Fashion Police after seven episodes.
"When I chose to step into the shoes of my beloved friend Joan Rivers at Fashion Police, I was thrilled to continue her legacy as a woman being brash and eccentric on television," Griffin tweeted Thursday. "After seven episodes of Fashion Police, I discovered that my style does not fit with the creative direction of the show and now it's time to move on."
E! issued a statement confirming Griffin's departure.
"We can confirm that Kathy Griffin is leaving E!'s Fashion Police," the cable television network said. "We wish her all the best and are grateful for her time on the show, as well as the many laughs that she gave us all. Fashion Police will return, as scheduled, on Monday, March 30 at 9 p.m., with our talented co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, and executive producer Melissa Rivers. No further information is available at this time."
Griffin joined the show after Joan Rivers died last year at the age of 81. Griffin's departure follows that of her co-host Kelly Osbourne. Osbourne quit after panelist Rancic commented that the dreadlocks of Osbourne's friend, 18-year-old actress and singer Zendaya, looked as though they smelled of patchouli oil and marijuana. Although Rancic publicly apologized for the remark and Zendaya accepted Rancic's mea culpa, the incident sparked a social-media furor.
