Senoko Energy, the largest power generation company in Singapore, today unveiled a new 701F4 gas turbine from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), as part of its Stage 2 repowering programme.The 701F4, the most advanced and most efficient F-class turbine from MHI, will support Senoko Energy in its ongoing efforts to provide competitively-priced electricity in an environmentally-sustainable way.President and chief executive officer, Brendan Wauters said: "The delivery of this first gas turbine is an important milestone in our Stage 2 repowering programme."This project is of great importance to Senoko Energy, as it positions us well to maintain our leading position as an environmentally-conscious generator in the Singapore market," he said at the unveiling ceremony here today.Thanking members of the EPC Consortium (Mitsubishi, MHI and Hitachi) and Senoko internal teams for their hard work, Wauters said he is looking forward to the successful completion of this project in 2012.The gas turbine delivery is the most recent milestone in Senoko's Stage 2 repowering programme.As part of this programme, which was announced in September 2008, Senoko Energy will transform three thirty-year-old oil-fired units (with a capacity of 250 MW each) into two technologically advanced and environmentally-friendly gas-fired 430MW combined cycle units (with a capacity of 430 MW each).The repowered units, named CCP6 and 7, are scheduled for full commercial operation in the second half of 2012.
