An Iranian Oil Ministry official announced Tuesday that an attempted cyber attack on the country's oil industry has been foiled, adding that all production and export units of his ministry are currently operating. Head of the Oil Ministry crisis headquarters Hamdollah Mohammadnejad told Iran's (IRNA) News Agency today that experts are still working on the cyber attack, stressing that all operational units of the ministry such as those involved in producing and exporting crude are properly working. He explained that few of the ministry's servers were targeted by a bad software yesterday but the system security officials managed to foil it immediately. The official stressed that due to the timely and highly professional performance of the experts no damage was done to the ministry's data bases. Iranian Oil Ministry's telecommunications and internet systems were targeted by cyber attacks yesterday.
