Authorities detained the wife of a former Greek defense minister for her involvement in his alleged money-laundering scheme. Police charged Viki Stamati with money laundering Friday and took her to Korydallos prison where her husband, Akis Tsochatzopoulos, and his daughter, Areti Tsochatzopoulos, are being held, Ekathimerini reported. Stamati denied involvement with the offshore companies her husband allegedly used to launder payments for arms purchases. Prosecutors have implicated 10 people in the scheme, which they say Akis Tsochatzopoulos used to conceal millions of dollars. Stamati's brother, Panayiotis Stamati, has been released on bail pending his trial, the newspaper said.
