Lusail Real Estate Development Company (LREDC) on Monday recognized its contractors achievement of completing 10 million man hours with any Lost Time Incident (LTI) on the Doha Convention and Exhibition Center (DCEC) project in West Bay. A subsidiary of Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company (QDREIC), Lusail, the developer of Qatar's Greenfield development, today marked contractors Six Construct-Midmac joint venture for their remarkable safety milestone while working on the DCEC project. The contractors have been engaged in construction phases 2A and 2B of the innovative project, expected to be completed soon, Lusail said in a media statement today. Located in the upmarket West Bay area of Doha, the DCEC will be connected to the Sheraton Park through an underground tunnel that will bring visitors to the naturally crescent-shaped Doha Corniche. It is destined to become an important regional and international exhibition Center with parking for nearly 5,000 vehicles and a Convention Centre with necessary facilities for approximate area of 30,000 sqm. The developer considered, the 10 million mark remarkable since the contractors had to place a significant amount of structural concrete, the unique and difficult erection of more than 12,000 tons of structural steel, MEP installations, and other operations in the ongoing progress of constructing the one-of-a-kind building. LREDC Chief Executive Officer Engineer Essa Mohammed Ali Kaldari, Building Project Director Hamad Alabdulmalik and Health, Safety, Security, Environment, Logistics and Quality (HSSELQ) Director Salem Al Kuwari, along with senior officials from Six Construct and Midmac Contracting Company participated in the event to mark the safety milestone. Officials from Turner International Middle East, which is providing project and construction management services to DCEC, were also in attendance today. Commenting on the milestone Essa Mohammed Ali Kaldari said, "It is an outstanding achievement and reiterates the firm commitment to safety by all parties involved. This is an achievement we can be proud of as a company. "It also demonstrates the concept of 'Committed to Health and Safety' when it comes to safe working practices. Today's celebration is one of our ways to show our appreciation to each and every one of you in the project. "LREDC attributes great importance to health and safety of all, and our HSSELQ department has a system of recognition both for contractors and developers. The 10 million man hours without any LWDC is the most prestigious award amongst our recognitions." Six Construct-Midmac official Assem Abu Ayach said, "This is not the only time that we are recognizing our employees for their contribution towards such an outstanding achievement for safety practices. Our aim is for our employees to understand that their value for safety in their work is being rewarded." (QNA)
