The Real-Estate Union has granted the Sheikh Nasser Saud Al-Sabah Award for distinctive real-estate enterprises for 2011 to a number of Kuwait's landmark and successful ventures, namely the grand and multi-service Avenues mall. The chairman of the union, Toufic Al-Jarrah, said in a statement during a ceremony, held late on Wednesday for this purpose, the award was intended to encourage competition among property entrepreneurs and nudge the private sector to abide by international and local construction legislation. The award is given to distinguished commercial complexes, of size not exceeding 2,000 square meters, and 3,000-sq-m buildings located outside the Kuwait city region. Board of the jurists comprised credible and objective figures from government departments, academic institutions, Kuwait University, and the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET). Al-Jarrah expressed gratitude to Sheikh Faisal for sponsoring the event that honored the top national enterprises, in homage to soul of the late Sheikh Nasser Saud Al-Sabah, founder of the federation. The Avenues mall has garnered the lion's share of the awards in the category of commercial complexes, best desig, and management. Baitak complex won the award for best management and smart towers. Sahara mall was also crowned for distinctive design.
