Barwa Real Estate announced Monday the inauguration of "Barwa City", one of the largest real estate projects in Qatar, at an estimated cost of about QR 7.3 billion. Barwa City offers a total constructed area of 2.7 million square meters in Mesaimeer area in Doha, it said in a statement published on the (Qatar Exchange) website today. The project offers 200,000 square meters of green spaces, 128 residential buildings for tenants and investors and 6,000 residential units with the capacity to accommodate 25,000 residents, it said. The project, which was developed in two phases, provides in its first phase integrated services that has been delivered in the second half of 2011, including construction of housing units in addition to a social services area that contain two schools, each of 29 thousand square meters and accommodate approximately 1,800 students, four kindergartens, four large mosques, a bank, shops and a hall.
