UAE Ambassador to South Korea Abdullah Khalfan Al Rumaithi has stressed keenness of the leadership in the UAE and South Korea to expand the strategic partnership to include the areas of oil, renewable energy, education, training, construction and building sectors, shipbuilding, semiconductors, telecommunications and information technology. He told Emirates News Agency (WAM) in an exclusive interview that the bilateral relations between the two countries have seen qualitative progress in different areas due to keenness of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and South Korea’s President Lee Myung-bak to achieve full partnership in the economic and investment areas. “Due to these efforts the two friendly countries have attained achievements and inked several agreements to ensure the security of energy and economic development of the two peoples”, said the UAE envoy. He indicated that those huge developments followed the visit of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces to South Korea in May 2010. The visit came in the wake of the winning of South Korea’s Consortium of a bid to build four nuclear actors in the UAE as part of the country’s civil nuclear energy programme. “The visit has kick started the new era of furthering the bilateral relations in different fields between the UAE and South Korea”, said the UAE ambassador to South Korea.
