Kuwaiti Ambassador in Khartoum Talal Al-Hajri has delivered a financial support worth USD 233,000 to the African society for maternal and child care in Sudan.
The financial help came upon a decree from the Kuwaiti cabinet to bankroll the society's charitable projects.
Speaking to KUNA on the help, the Kuwaiti ambassador said the sum is part of Kuwait's contributions to humanitarian projects and a sign of keenness on bolstering fraternal and social bonds between the people of Kuwait and Sudan.
He voiced hope that the Kuwaiti financial support would help in the establishment of projects that could bring benefits to orphans, widowed mothers and homeless children in Sudan.
The Kuwaiti ambassador thanks the Sudanese government for offering great facilities to Kuwaiti charities' activities in the country.
On his part, the chairman of the society, Mohammad Murad, voiced much gratitude to the government and people of Kuwait for their continuing bountiful help to all the needy.
The society is active in six African countries, namely Sudan, Somalia, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda and Zanzibar, he said.
The African society takes care of as many as 9,000 orphans in several African countries and has integrated centers to cater for 400 homeless children, he pointed out
