Visiting Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes met here Wednesday with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and agreed to improve his country's investment environment so as to attract more Japanese companies.
The president said at a press conference after the meeting that Japanese firms created jobs and has wide cooperation with Paraguay.
"An increasing number of Japanese companies are entering Paraguay as a result of the president's policy of attracting foreign investment," Abe was quoted as saying.
Abe further hoped that more Japanese companies will invest in the South American country in a move to enhance bilateral economic ties.
A total of 10 Japanese companies have established operations in Paraguay since 2011, local reports said, citing government data.
