Four companies have received permits to operate in central Poland's Lodz Special Economic Zone (LSEZ) and plan to invest more than 120 million U.S. dollars and create a total of 80 jobs.
Since the start of 2014 LSEZ has issued 16 permits to investors. "The same number is still being processed," LSEZ President Tomasz Sadzynski told local press on Friday, adding that he believed that this would be a record year for the Lodz zone.
Among the four latest investors is pharmaceutical company Medana Pharma which will invest at least 70 million U.S. dollars in expanding its factory and research and development centre in the Sieradz subzone, hire at least 15 new employees and maintain employment at 358 people until the end of 2025.
Union Industries Polska wants to invest 42 million U.S. dollars until the end of 2022 in Radomsko. Its planned factory will produce non-woven fabrics for hygienic and medical products and will employ at least 40 people.
MGL, part of the MAGO Group - a European manufacturer of shop and warehouse shelving, wants to expand its existing factory in the Rawa Mazowiecka subzone by purchasing new machinery and organizing a research and development department. MGL will invest at least 1.7 million U.S. dollars, create at least 10 new jobs and maintain employment at 116 for the next five years.
In LSEZ's 17 years of existence, the zone has issued 253 permits. Companies have invested over 3.5 billion U.S. dollars there, creating almost 29,000 jobs.
