The US stocks retreated from record levels to close lower Monday, as investors turned cautious ahead of a busy week of earnings and central bank meetings.
The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI closed down 77.79 points, or 0.42%, to 18,493.06.
The S&P 500 .SPX slid 6.55 points, or 0.3%, to 2,168.48 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC lost 2.53 points, or 0.05%, to 5,097.63.
