US stocks edged higher on Tuesday with the Nasdaq Composite posting a fresh record close, as investors kept an eye on falling oil prices.
The Dow industrials rose 3.76 points Tuesday, or 0.02%, to 18533.05.
The S&P 500 added 0.85 point, or less than 0.1%, to 2181.74.
The Nasdaq Composite climbed 12.34 points, or 0.2%, to 5225.48, surpassing its prior record of 5221.12 set Friday.
In Europe, stocks rallied across the board. The broad Stoxx Europe 600 index climbed 0.9%. Germany’s DAX index rose 2.5% to be up more than 20% from its February low a bull market.
Meanwhile, Asian markets mostly rose Tuesday. Japan’s Nikkei Stock Average and the Shanghai Composite Index led the gains, both finishing up 0.7%.
