Unemployment in Russia calculated under International Labor Organization methodology fell by five percent in June 2011, compared to the previous month to 4.612 million people or 6.1 percent of the country's active population, the State Statistics Service Rosstat said on Tuesday. Russia’s official unemployment rate fell by 5.9 percent in June, compared to the previous month, to 1.425 million people, of whom 1.2 million were entitled to unemployment benefits, Rosstat said. Russia’s total unemployment rate fell by 11.2 percent in late June 2011 as compared with the same period last year while the number of officially registered jobless people declined by 23.6 percent over that period, Rosstat said. Russia’s economically active population stood at 76 million people in June 2011 or over 53 percent of Russia’s total population, Rosstat said.
