Zahid Tractor & Heavy Machinery Co. Ltd and Renault Trucks have launched two new distinct truck ranges that will be produced in Saudi Arabia. The new ranges, ‘C’ and ‘K’ were introduced by Renault Trucks’ Global and Regional leadership on Oct. 25 at an event held at the Arabian Vehicles & Trucks Industry Ltd (AVI) facility in King Abdullah Economic City. Those in attendance included French Ambassador Francois Gouyette, French Consul General to Jeddah Patrick Nicoloso, the French Head of the Economic Department Alain Chouan; senior officials from King Abdullah Port, senior representatives from the Economic Cities Authority and Emaar Economic City, customers and industry leaders.
“Zahid and Renault are fully aligned with our Vision 2030 led by Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, committing our joint resources to serving our market with vigor and diligence,” commented Amr M. Khashoggi, Zahid Group Vice President HR & Group Affairs. “Our state-of-the-art AVI factory has embarked on a journey that represents our largest cooperation with Renault Trucks to date. We are prepared for our beloved country’s anticipated growth over the coming years, and these new trucks will enable local and regional companies operating in the construction and transportation sectors to enhance productivity and efficiency.”
The French ambassador gave a speech in fluent Arabic congratulating the Zahid family and Renault on this remarkable and impressive collaboration, and highlighted the close and strong alliance between Saudi Arabia and France. He advised French companies to take advantage of the many opportunities Saudi markets provide, and his confidence that the economy will rebound before long.
The AVI facility was designed by a Volvo/Renault Trucks project team and implements a new concept for efficient and cost effective truck assembly. The facility is one of the first in the world to assemble both Volvo and Renault trucks on the same line.
The ‘C’ and ‘K’ ranges set new standards in terms of robustness and productivity, and have the capacity to accept a variety of body types. Each model can easily be adapted to a wide range of applications and customer demands found within the distribution and construction segments. The ‘C’ range will enter the market with two options of cabin width, 2.3 and 2.5 m, both of which are designed for specific jobs. The 2.3 m is built for distribution and deliveries while the 2.5 m cab is for long haul, light construction and heavy distribution. The Renault Trucks ‘C’ range offers superior driver comfort, exceptional reliability and optimal fuel efficiency, making it ideal for both long-haul and certain construction applications.
