The State Audit Bureau of Qatar hosted on Tuesday the 55th executive council meeting of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI), with the participation of more than 51 heads of audit institutions and audit experts, in addition to representatives of the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI).
The two-day meeting comes under the State Audit Bureau's eagerness to strengthen and prosper the technical and institutional cooperation between the supreme audit institutions in the Arab world considering the vital role the institutions play in the development of the Arab countries and the protection of the public money.
HE President of State Audit Bureau of Qatar and second deputy president for the executive council of ARABOSAI Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani said that the organization, founded in 1976, aims to achieve its goals including strengthening the cooperation and exchanging of experiences between Arab supreme audit institutions and developing the means and facilities of regulatory work. The organization builds its work on a professional foundation and clear rules of reference which has contributed to the work development of the members, His Excellency added.
The organization contributed to the effectiveness of the regulatory work, which has continued and is ongoing for 40 years, despite the obstacles that have evolved in light of the rapid global changes that have been imposed by the communication and information revolution and the new directives of a country's role, His Excellency said.
The sense of responsibility towards the roles assigned to the audit institutions requires giving importance to developing the abilities of it, provide qualified and trained personnel, exchange quality experience, and provide a comprehensive information system to achieve high quality monitoring and increase professional awareness of those in charge of public money management.
