Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs signed a joint communiqué with Linas Linkevicius, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
The joint communiqué reads as follows: “On the official visit of Linas Linkevicius, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania to the Sultanate accompanied by a Lithuanian business delegation, the Sultanate and Lithuania mutually seek to strengthen friendly relations and develop further cooperation in areas of trade and economy and various other fields, based on the joint communiqué signed during the visit of Algirdas Butkevicius, Prime Minister of Lithuania to Oman in February 2015.
“They jointly agree to develop and expand economic relations between the two countries in both the private and public sectors, continue the efforts to establish a Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation under the umbrella of an agreement of economic cooperation between both countries, the development of cooperation in the following areas: industry, energy, transport, science, technologies, innovations, information tech, telecommunications, construction and building materials, industry, pharmaceuticals, food industries, environment protection, agriculture, tourism, education and health services.
Develop trade relations in all levels, which include exchanging of business delegations, organising of trade fairs and exhibitions and developing further business contacts and networks, promote investments of state and private enterprises of both countries and relations of chambers of commerce as a main factor in the growth of bilateral economic relations, continue efforts to conclude pending agreements, such as the Avoidance of Double Taxation, Investment Promotion and Protection, Air Services and Economic Cooperation in the nearest future and continue their consultations on a regular basis on various issues of mutual interest for the purpose of long-term development and growth”.
