Supply Minister Mohamed Aly Moselhi said on Wednesday that no private silos will be rented during the next wheat supply season.
Egypt’s wheat storage capacity hit 3 million tons, besides other storage capacities of government-affiliates bodies, Moselhi added during his visit to the General Company for Silos and Storage (GSSC) to stand on the progress of the storage system.
The ministry has modern silos in 20 governorates, while 10 more horizontal silos will be built in cooperation with Italy to accommodate 200,000 tons of wheat along with 14 Saudi-funded silos set to store 420,000 tons, the minister stated.
As many as 25 silos, which were built in cooperation with the UAE with a storage capacity of 1.5 million tons, will be fully operational as of the upcoming season, Moselhi further said.
