A new Dubai Public Diplomacy and Communication Network was launched by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, at the Public Diplomacy and Government Communication Forum on Sunday.
The network is a new initiative led by the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) that creates a platform for communication officials in government and semi-government organisations, which are stakeholders in Dubai’s global communications, to share information and best practices.
Addressing the members of the network, Shaikh Hamdan said: “We have big expectations from you. We expect you to create a plan for further developing government communications and broadening the scope of collaboration to prepare UAE talent to take on leadership roles in the fields of public diplomacy and government communications and enhance their capabilities. I also look forward to seeing the network implementing the lessons from the forum to achieve our larger objectives.”
Shaikh Hamdan expressed his confidence that the network will have a strong impact on the development of government communications, given the opportunities it offers different stakeholders to collaborate. Coordination is critical for effective and successful communication especially at a time when Dubai aims to be a global capital, implementing today what the world seeks to implement in the next 10 years, he added.
Mona Al Merri, Director General of Government of Dubai Media Office, said: “The Dubai Public Diplomacy and Communication Network will support Dubai’s effort to speak in one voice to the world. Dubai is a leading global commercial hub and one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities. Yet, it has a unique identity and character steeped in its Arab heritage and cultural values. The network will help ensure that Dubai’s distinctiveness as well as its global profile, and its aspirations, strategic priorities and value proposition are communicated coherently and consistently. The network brings together various players who are stakeholders in Dubai’s growth and development to exchange knowledge and ideas on how Dubai’s global communications can be optimised and enhanced
