The Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, AMAF, has donated more than AED2.5 million from an endowment from the late Emirati philanthropist, Ahmed Baghlaf, to several charity organisations that care for underprivileged people, including widows, orphans, and the elderly. The donations come in line with the UAE #Year of Giving and the foundation’s objectives to enhance the spirit of social solidarity.
AMAF presented separate cheques of AED350,000 each to the Dar Al Ber Society in Dubai, the Beit Al Khair Society in Dubai, Sharjah Charity International, Sharjah Charity House, Human Appeal International in Ajman, Al Rahmah for Charity in Ras Al-Khaimah, and Al Ihsan Charity Association in Ajman. The foundation also donated AED75,553 to the International Modern Hospital.
Tayeb Al-Rais, Secretary-General of AMAF, said, "As part of our core priority to improve the lives of the less privileged, AMAF is pleased to collaborate with charity and humanitarian organisations in the UAE. Through such efforts, we aim to support the initiatives of our wise leadership in ensuring the success of the UAE’s Year of Giving."
He added, "We prioritise certain social segments in accordance with the directions of the donors that make endowments. We also look to achieve the mandates of our five endowment banks through our financial and in-kind donations."
Throughout 2016, AMAF extended its support to many religious, healthcare, social, and humanitarian organisations and projects, both in the UAE and abroad.
