Author and orthopedic surgeon William H. Simon’s “Prescription: Murder” (published by iUniverse) takes readers on the thrilling adventures of sharp and witty Dr. Ham Marks. The book, published in 2012, is gearing up for a new marketing push in the second half of 2014.
Split into two novellas, “Prescription: Murder” follows the adventures of Ham Marks, a forensic orthopedic surgeon who finds himself dodging assassination attempts and thwarting criminals. In the first novella, “Over His Dead Body,” Marks is called as an expert witness to a high-profile murder trial of a malpractice lawyer; but before he can take the stand he finds himself the target of international terrorists. Marks must find out how the malpractice lawyer became entangled with such terrorists.
In “A ‘C’ Change,” Marks and his wife, Ruth set sail for a romantic Mediterranean cruise. As the ship weaves around the Greek islands, Marks uncovers the dastardly murder plot of a Bulgarian medical colleague who has just invented a product worth millions. This time, Marks teams up with the secret service and the FBI in order to take out the murderers and make it back to the cruise ship before cocktail hour.
Simon hopes readers will find his novel both entertaining and engaging. He advises readers to be on the lookout for his next Ham Marks book, “Hit and Drag,” a story of murder on the golf course.
