Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid has published a book on the UAE’s mission to Mars.
In Hope Probe and the UAE Project to Explore Mars, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai writes about the reason the country decided to launch the mission to Mars and the various stages of the project.
He also discusses the history of the exploration of the Red Planet and the benefits it holds for humanity.
In the book’s preface Sheikh Mohammed linked the Mars mission to Arab and Islamic civilisation’s leading role in advancing scientific knowledge for mankind.
"Our great-grandfathers explored the stars and seas as explorers, traders and scientists to build their glorious civilisation. Today, we resume our mission to explore the stars so as to build the future of our generations," he writes.
With 75 Emirati scientists and engineers taking part in the Hope project, the UAE is preparing to become the first Arab country to send a mission to another planet by 2021.
