In celebration of the UAE Humanitarian Work Day on 19th Ramdan every year and the tenth anniversary of the death of the late founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Rashid Centre for Disabled (RCD) will publish a book ''Hopes and Expectations for our Handicapped Children''. Dr. Maryam Othman, Director General of RCD, said the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of Emirates, believe that all members of the community, especially those with special needs, should enjoy the right to life as active members in the community. She praised the UAE leadership for their noble feelings, incessant care and for painting smile on the face of children with special needs. She added that the new book will spot light the issues concerning physically challenged people, who have become today the largest minority in the world reaching 900 million (+13.5%) of the world's population. The book, she said, will explain the role of these categories in the journey of community-building without excluding or marginalising them. The book will be published in Arabic and English. The Dubai-based centre, one of the leading humanitarian organisation which provides quality education and therapy services to children with special needs in the UAE and the Arab World, aims to develop children's ability to function and learn within their environment : home, school and community.
