A new book to illustrate the "Chinese dream" concept as raised and developed by the Chinese central government was launched at the 20th Beijing International Book Fair yesterday. The book, published by New World Press with both English and Chinese editions, bears the title "The Chinese Dream -- What it Means for China and the Rest of the Word." It tells the stories of different Chinese people pursuing their individual dreams and how foreigners accomplish their dreams in China. Zhou Mingwei, president of China International Publishing Group (CIPG), said at the launch ceremony that the book tells the stories in a way that relates to overseas readers, and explains Chinese people's struggles in pursuing their dreams and goals throughout China's past, present and future. "These vivid cases can help the international community to understand China and improve the cooperation between China and the world, while erasing the doubts and misunderstandings for China when the nation is undergoing rapid development." "Every Chinese person is a member of the Chinese Dream team," added Zhang Haiou, editor-in-chief with New World Press, "We invited several experts to answer the questions on the topic of the Chinese dream: What is it? What's the difference between the Chinese dream and American dream? And, What are the difficulties along the process and how far shall Chinese people go to fulfill their dream? " Cai Mingzhao, director of the Information Office of the State Council, wrote the preface for the book, which read, "The Chinese dream is not the Chinese people dreaming of remaining behind closed doors, but a dream of opening up; a dream that China can collaborate with the world and achieve a win-win situation. The Chinese dream will benefit China and the world." The publishing rights to the book's Japanese and Korean editions were also in negotiations. The 20th Beijing International Book Fair takes place at the China International Exhibition Center (New Venue) from August 28 to September 1, 2013.
