Yas Island, the UAE’s premier entertainment destination, is set to host the third annual ‘Abu Dhabi Pet Festival’ at du Arena on 3rd February 2017 from 2pm to 10pm.
Promising animal and pet lovers a fun day packed with family-friendly outdoor activities, the free-to-attend festival will celebrate pets with a variety of entertaining competitions and demonstrations. The festival will also look to raise awareness about animal welfare, health and training, as well as the numerous pet products and services available in the UAE.
"We are elated to be able to bring the success of the annual Pet Festival back to Yas Island. Designed as a fully immersive pet lovers’ event, this highly colourful occasion will also raise awareness about the welfare of our furry, finned and winged friends, and function as an educational and thrilling experience for those - especially children - who rarely have the chance to see and interact with domestic pets," Gerardo Llanes, Executive Director, Yas Island Destination Management.
"The outdoor festival will most definitely be a unique opportunity and make for a complete and memorable family outing," Llanes, added.
The festival will host the 5th International Dog Show Competition, Cat Beauty Contest, Dog Agility Competitions, Woof Parade, Abu Dhabi’s K9 Police Dogs Demonstration and Special Bullies Dog Competitions. The event will cater to children too - a petting zoo, kids play area, games and pony rides will all be available.. The venue will feature food & beverage stalls and trucks, in addition to pet product and service stalls.
Pet experts and veterinary specialists will be on hand to answer pet related questions and provide information. In addition, free medical check-ups, vaccinations and microchipping will be provided to those who request them.
To be able to enter the festival, all pet-owners who bring their pets along should produce their pets’ vaccination records. Rules and regulations for the various competitions can be viewed at www.petfestival.ae where people can also find more information about the festival and register their dogs and cats for competitions in advance. Non-participating pets need not register.
Local pet groups, rehabilitative organisations, vendors, training schools and veterinarians have been consulted in preparation for the shows.
