A South Korean film festival opened in Beijing Wednesday at a time when Korean pop music and soap operas are making a splash in China.
Sponsored by South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and China's State Administration of Film, Radio and Television, the week-long event features 10 Korean films, including an action-thriller, "The Target."
South Korean actor and singer Jang Keun-suk and Chinese actress Bai Baihe, who starred in a Korea-China co-production movie, "A Wedding Invitation," last year, have been named as "PR ambassadors" for the event, according to the Chinese unit of South Korea's CJ E&M Corp., which has organized the annual festival.
