The 7th International Festival of Strip cartoon of Algiers (FIBDA), in which will partake 32 countries, including Brazil as guest of honor, was officially inaugurated on Tuesday by minister of Culture, Nadia Labidi.
Held until 27 September at the Esplanade of Riad El Feth, this seventh edition of the most important cultural event dedicated to the ninth art in Algeria, allows the public to discover Brazilian strip cartoons, a country that has a tradition of "old 145 years "in this art, as stated a Brazilian cartoonist attending the festival.
Sixty plates exposed in one of the stands of the festival, where political cartoons of the 20th century frequent sheets inspired by science-fiction and the character of "Monica", heroine of a strip cartoon created in the late 1950s by Mauricio de Susa and very popular in the countries of Latin America.
This little girl with buck teeth is also the focus of paintings, exhibited in the same space, where Mauricio Susa diverted works of great artists such as Da Vinci, Monet and Velasquez with a humorous touch.
Algerian strip cartoon is also in honor of the 7th FIBDA which chose to pay tribute in an exhibition to three Algerian authors, namely Benattou Masmoudi, Djilali Defali and Hiahemzizou Noureddine.
