The Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) has opened its door for films hoping to participant in its fourth edition scheduled for 17-23 March 2015.
The call is open to submissions in all categories, between 1 September and 30 November 2014. The LAFF selection committee will announce the participating films on 1 January 2015.
In addition, registration for a filmmaking workshop led by Ethiopian filmmaker Haile Gerima is now open. LAFF will receive applications for the workshop until 25 December. Terms of subscription and registration as well as application forms are available to download in Arabic, English and French from the official festival site: www.luxorafricanfilmfestival.com.
The guest of honour will be Burkina Faso, crowning its significant role in the film industry within the continent, particularly its efforts in hosting the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), the largest film festival in Africa.
Last year, the LAFF's Grand Nile Prize in the Long Narrative competition went to Rwanda’s genocide drama Imbabazi: The Pardon by Joel Karekezi and to Doaa Aziza by Egyptian director Saad Hendawy in the Long Documentary competition.
The LAFF is organised by Independent Shabab Foundation (ISF), a non-profit organization that brought the festival to the southern valleys of the Nile for the first time in 2012.
