The Public Authority for Environment participated Saturday in the concluding activities of Environment Camp festival entitled "Kuwait a green oasis" under the patronage of Minister of Oil and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Environment Ali Al-Omair and with the attendance of Minister of State for Housing Affairs Yasser Abul.Al-Omair said in a speech, at the closing ceremony, that to preserve the environment and turn it into a green oasis work has started through a voluntary team which did not have an executive umbrella, but managed to deliver the message of awareness to the public.The minister called for encouraging these efforts and to participate by supporting it financially and morally, due to its role also in maintaining clean and greening landscapes.Al-Omair added that the UN recognized Kuwait's right in restoring the country's environment, and noted that it was within the environmental compensations of the country part of it dedicated to the environment, wildlife which amounted to about USD three billion dollars.For his part, the Public Authority for Environment Director General Dr. Salah Al-Mudhi asserted on the authority's keenness to encourage contact with volunteers, civil society organizations, and environmental activists in these regards.Al-Mudhi explained that volunteers' initiative and campaign has received a good care by minister Al-Omair which shows concern for the environment beyond the scope of the authority and into to the cabinet, noting that working for the environment is a collective and joint responsibility on everyone for the sake of preserving the environment.
