His Highness Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's unlimited support for the heritage-related events and activities is the main factor behind the national heritage festival significant success, Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah said.
This support made Sabah Al-Ahmad Heritage Village in Al-Salmi area one of the country's tourist attraction sites, Sheikh Ali said in a statement to KUNA on the occasion of the visit by His Highness the Amir to the festival on Wednesday.
Earlier today, His Highness the Amir Sheikh and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah attended the festival celebrations in Al-Salmi area.
Sheikh Ali added that His Highness the Amir was briefed on the village's facilities, including the Kuwaiti and Gulf museums, and other sites designed for contests, noting His Highness the Amir lauded collective action that led to the establishment of the village.
He noted the festival attracts a large number of contesters and visitors, saying that it is expected to witness a large participation next year.
In a similar statement to KUNA, Deputy Head of the Competitions Committee Sheikh Sabah Fahad Al-Nasser Al-Sabah said that the directions of His Highness the Amir will prompt organizers to develop the festival's competitions.
This festival has become one of the largest of its kind in the region due to His Highness the Amir's support, he said, adding more than 6500 contesters are taking part in the event.
All competitions run as planned and contesters are cooperating with the organizing committee, he said, noting the contests saw a noticeable development this year due to the large number of competitions.
Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Fawaz Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah told KUNA in a statement that the festival, backed by the political leadership, has become a heritage landmark on the Gulf arena.
He voiced his satisfaction as the event coincides with the national celebrations and the ninth anniversary of His Highness the Amir's ascension to power, urging people to take part in the governorate's celebrations of the country's National Day and Liberation Day this month.
