A Kuwaiti theatrical group won 12 awards at the sixth session of the international "Theatre Without Production" Festival held in Egypt's Mediterranean Sea city of Alexandria.
In a statement to KUNA on Monday, the group's head Hani Al-Nassar said that his team had won the "lion's share" of the festival's awards, adding that the best awards of the performance, director, musician writer, author and actress went to the State of Kuwait.
Al-Nassar expressed his happiness at winning these prizes during the event, describing Egypt as the "country of arts".
He emphasized the level of performances at the festival as "very distinguished".
The awards reflect Kuwait's distinguished theatre, he said, pointing out that there were strong competitions among the groups of Egypt, Kuwait, France, Algeria and Saudi Arabia.
He said Kuwait's group participated in different festivals and won more than 25 awards.
Kuwait will soon take part in an Arab festival scheduled in Morocco and an international university festival due in Beirut, he added.
For his part, Abdulaziz Al-Nassar, the group's director, told KUNA in another statement that Kuwait was expected to win the prizs thanks to its brilliant performances.
The awards were dedicated to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, he noted, hoping that Kuwait's theater could get more support in the upcoming period since it has been greatly developing.
Eight theatrical teams of Egypt and 11 others of the participating countries took part in the festival on Bairam Al-Tounsi Theatre in Alexandria.
