The Khalifa International Date Palm Award will participate in the 11th edition of the Liwa Date Festival, scheduled to be held from July 22-30 in Liwa, Western Region.
H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs will patronise the event which will be organised by the Cultural Programmes and Heritage Festivals Committee, Abu Dhabi.
The Award aims to publicise date palm culture at local, regional and international levels and support and encourage innovations related to date palm industry that will also compete in its four categories.
The Award's pavilion will include a number of publications documenting its previous eight years which were full of achievements, thanks to the special attention given by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the follow up of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and attention of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and Chairman of the Award's Board of Trustees.
Dr. Abdul Wahab Zayed, Secretary General of the Award, noted that the annual organisation of the festival comes in line with the award's strategy to enhance its presence in all international events related to palm dates activities.
The Khalifa International Date Palm Award was established under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, through presidential decree Number 15/2007, dated 20 March 2007, and through Presidential Decision Number 02/2007, dated 7 July 2007, which defined the members of the Award's Board of Trustees.
