The 4th National Folk Costume Festival to take place March 8-13 at Mofdi Zakaria Palace of Culture, Algiers, will evolve this year around the theme "Wedding Dress: Rites and Rituals."
The opening ceremony, scheduled for March 8th, the International Women's Day, will have an Algiers-style setting with Zorna music, followed by a gala featuring Naima Ababsa and her female band.
The event's programme includes exhibitions presenting various wedding dresses, for both men and women, from different parts of Algeria, including Algiers, Tlemcen, Constantine, Cherchell and Ghardaia.
Throughout the festival, artistic activities and workshops will be organized, including henna rituals from the country's east and west as well as Kabylia region, with a background of folk songs from the concerned regions.
