Algeria will attend the 17th International Poetry Festival Mediterranean "Voix Vives" (lively voices), scheduled from 18 to 26 July in Sète (South of France), organizers announced on Tuesday. Well-known on the Algerian and French art scene, Hamid Tibouchi will be one of these e voices. Painter and poet, his prolific output has been translated into different languages ??(Arabic, English, Spanish, Italian, Hungarian, German and Irish). Tibouchi, who works in France since 1981, is the author of some twenty collections including Mer Ouverte (Open Sea), Soleil d’herbe et Parésie (Sun and grass paresis) and produced many artists' books. Algeria is at the heart of its work, through colors arranged with simplicity and harmony to make bright pieces of great vitality. There is also a recurrent calligraphic gesture. According the Festival's director and founder, Maïthé Vallès-Bled, Voix Vives is meant to take a look at contemporary poetry and explain that beautiful word is not reserved for the poetry elite. "The aim of the festival consists in bringing poetry to the public square through an oral character while associating books, considered as a transmission medium," she said during a press conference held Tuesday in Paris.
