A senior Iranian legislator on Sunday confirmed earlier reports that Iranian security forces have arrested the No. 2 man of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). "The report is correct. The number two man of the group (PKK) has been captured by Iran's intelligence forces," Head of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi told FNA on Sunday. "Our intelligence forces have accomplished a significant achievement by capturing the No. 2 man of the PKK," Boroujerdi added. Earlier, the state-run Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) aired a story claiming that Murat Karayilan had been captured in the Kandil Mountains in northern Iraq, where the PKK isbased, by the Iranian security forces. "Sources say separatist terrorist organization leader Murat Karayilan has been captured by Iran. However, this hasn't been confirmed by any officials," TRT reported. However, PKK-affiliated news agencies denied the reports.
