A senior Iranian commander says the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has been equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to enhance its capabilities with the purpose of countering threats against the country. “The Ground Forces of the IRGC are in a state of full coherence and given their military and defense strength, they are ready to counter threats from the enemies” of the Islamic Republic, Deputy Commander of the IRGC’s Ground Forces Brigadier General Abdollah Araqi said on Tuesday. He added that the IRGC has staged various maneuvers and asserted the military might of its forces, stating that Iran's air defense units also maintain high preparedness. Araqi further noted that Iran's military forces must in fact possess the highest level of military know-how, given the advances in modern military warfare. In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems. The country has repeatedly made clear that its military might is merely based on the state's defense doctrine of deterrence and that it poses no threat to other countries.
