Iran strongly condemned an Israeli Knesset decision to Judaize the Holy Quds (Jerusalem), and called it a violation of the Palestinian nation's historical and eternal rights. In a statement, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast strongly rejected the announcement by the Zionist regime's parliament that has called the Holy Quds as the eternal and indivisible capital of Israel. "The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that this dangerous trend is another step towards the full Judaization of Islamic sanctities and once again demonstrates the Zionist regime's racist nature and desecration of the sanctuaries of divine religions," Mehman-Parast said. He added that the decision also shows that Tel Aviv is confident about the silence of the world community and the lack of proper practical reaction by the regional countries to such moves. Mehman-Parast also called on the entire international and regional bodies and organization, including the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), to give a resolute response to Tel Aviv's act which is also a violation of human rights. On November 1, Israel's inner cabinet had decided to speed up construction of homes for Jews in Arab east Quds (Jerusalem) and in other nearby settlements to punish the Palestinians for winning membership in the UN cultural agency, UNESCO. Since then, Israel has issued announcements for 2,057 new homes in Arab east Quds and 1,241 in the West Bank, official figures show. At least 200,000 Israelis live in a dozen settlement neighborhoods in east Quds (Jerusalem), which was captured by Israel in 1967 and annexed in a move never recognized internationally. The Palestinians see the Holy Quds as the capital of their promised state and oppose any attempts to extend Israel's control over the part of the city that was captured in the 1967 Six Day War.
