Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has warned that the country’s armed forces will make the enemy regret any act of aggression. His comments came during a National Army Day parade. Ahmadinejad did not specify who the enemy is, but tensions are running high between Tehran and the West over its nuclear ambitions. Both Israel and the US have refused to rule out military action. “Foreign interference will bear nothing but destruction, rifts and insecurity. We would like everyone to follow this obvious rule and clear truth,” Ahmadinejad said. “We will implement the most stable security in this region, just as it was before.” Iran has so refused to halt its uranium enrichment program, which it says is purely for civilian purposes. Talks on the issue between the Islamic Republic and six world powers, including Britain and the United States, were held in Istanbul at the weekend. A fresh round of negotiations is set to to take place in Baghdad on the 23rd of May.
