The Zalindê femal band of Afro-Brazilian music performed Thursday night in Algiers, in a over-excited atmosphere that mixed dance percussion and signing, marking the opening of "Brazil meets El Bahdja" nights, a series of shows scheduled every weekend until 20 February. Originating from around the globe (Brazil, France , Benin, West Indies , Colombia and Japan), these artists form an interesting group mixing so many different cultures and sensitivities that allow them to roll samba, merengue, hip- hop, rai, African rhythms , reggae and other musical styles. "What a group! The percussion which requires both technics and energy is usually an exclusively male world," a lady from the audience said. Organized by "Arts and Culture" center in collaboration with Organic music, "Brazil meets El Bahdja" nights continue on Friday at Ibn Khaldoun room in Algiers with a second performance of Zalind group.
