After the success of the recent Picasso exhibition held at Rabat’s Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMVI), art lovers will have the opportunity to explore the world of Spain’s maestro of surrealism, Salvador Dali, in 2020.
Mehdi Qotbi, President of the National Museum Foundation has paid a visit to Figueras, Spain in order to discuss the opportunity to host the the Salvador Dali exhibition in Morocco.
“After the notable success of the Picasso exhibition, I was invited by the Gala-Salvador Dali Foundation, with the aim of organizing an exhibition in Rabat dedicated to this great figure of the 20th century,” Qotbi told Maghreb Arab Press (MAP).
The president added that an agreement was reached by the Gala-Salvador Dali Foundation and the kingdom’s museum foundation in order to hold the exhibition in the fall of 2020.
Dali (1904-1989) was a prominent surrealist painter, screenwriter, writer, and printmaker. He drew upon and freely mixed influences from 17th Renaissance art to contemporary avant-garde works.
Some of his well-known works include ‘The Persistence of Memory’ (1931), ‘Face of Mae West Which May Be Used as an Apartment’ (1935), ‘The Temptation of St. Anthony’ (1946), and ‘The Elephants’ (1948).
