Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, has headed the first meeting of the Higher Committee for The First Arab Pen Forum, which will be held in Abu Dhabi from 16th -19th of November 2014 under the title "The Arabs and the World: Cultural Challenges". The meeting, which was held at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) discussed preparations for the forum, which will be organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, in coordination with the Centre. The forum will focus on the Arabic language and Arab and Islamic Culture as key elements in the national identity. It will also provide Arab and Islamic civilization moderation to the community and the world as to what makes the U.A.E. a pioneering global hub in this area. The forum will focus on the concepts of comprehensive and sophisticated forms of production, where it will showcase all forms of production in the Arab areas of humanities and social sciences, religious, arts, literature and natural sciences. It will also address philosophy, history and civilization and the reality of the humanities, social and religious in the Arab world. The Committee highlighted the status enjoyed by Abu Dhabi city, which is home to many impressive events and projects, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who has led the U.A.E. in its march to becoming a country of prosperity, progress and stability with the rule of openness of culture and civilization. The Higher Committee meeting was attended by Ibrahim Al Abed, Director-General of the National Media Council, Dr. Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi, Director General of the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR), Saif Saeed Ghobash, Acting Chief Executive Officer at Abu Dhabi Media, Mubarak Al Muhairi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA) and a number of officials of the League of Arab States, the GCC, the United Nations, the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Kingdom of Morocco.
